The Ball, held at Coombe Abbey in Warwickshire, raised over £30,000; which could enable NSPCC visit over 3,600 children through the NSPCC Schools Service, to talk to them about abuse, help them to recognise that abuse is wrong and show them where to get help. H E Barnes hosted a table of esteemed guests from Blakemore alongside their own directors and sponsored the table pens for the event.
A ChildLine supervisor said about the Schools Service, “We took a call from a young person who is being physically abused at home. She has been trying to find the courage to tell someone for a long time, but after the NSPCC Schools Service visited her school earlier this week, she plucked up the courage to call us. ‘having someone from ChildLine visit her school helped her to realise that it’s OK to tell about what is happening to her.”
It has been a delight to be part of such a worthy cause.
